Lucian Freud's painting Benefits Supervisor Sleeping recently set a sale record for a living artist at $33.6 million. Does this symbolize a thriving art market, is it a happy exception, or is it even worth the price?

    Never been a huge fan of Lucien Freud.

    I hope I can erase this particular image from my memory bank - and that al least it doesn't reappear at some intimate moment.

    I did find it bizarre that, according to the authority interviewed, that the other-worldly price is based partly on the fact that he's Sigmund's grandson..

    Francis Bacon is MUCH more my cup of tea and I would definitely spend that much on one of his portraits of Henrietta Moraes if my bank would be willing to proffer a small loan..

    Ah! Those WERE the days.. perhaps not for poor Dom who stayed home with his whisky.
